CHIC DRIVEN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT EXPO: A MINDSET CHANGE TOWARDS POSITIVITY

The Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo is back this year this coming July and October dubbed as the ChicPlus+ Movement — which is all about positivity. It's first leg will be on July1&2 at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center in Makati City and its second leg will be on October 7&8, 2017 at Alabang Town Center. Coming from its success last year at the Glorietta Activity Center and in Alabang Town Center, where there were free seminars and workshops aimed to help women achieve work-life balance and which was attended by thousands of participants.

The Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo is organized by Jeanette Ipapo –Tuason, who authors the Chicdriven column in the Philippine Daily Inquirer and website of the same name. Together with host and actor Issa Litton, they bring together passionate individuals to share, empower and inspire women to have "a mindset change towards positivity".

The 2-day expo overall theme is about Respecting each others differences to promote women empowerment and equality in the Philippines. The seminars will focus on work- life balance, the road to a better you and how to become your own boss. There will also be special cooking segments, road safety seminars, a passion show and lots of raffle prizes.

Last June 1, a special block screening of Wonder Woman was held at the Century City Mall to kick off the launch of ChicPlus+. Three ChicPlus+ ambassadors were introduced to bloggers and social media Influencers; these are fashion and lifestyle blogger, Cat Arambulo-Antonio; Celebrity Mom, Model and Pet Lover Vanessa Matsunaga - Sunga; and popular Life Coach and plus size model Kimi Lu.

Cat Arambulo-Antonio, discussed the bullying she received on her parenting choices from fellow Mom’s especially on her choice to work.

Vanessa Matsunaga-Sunga, highlighted the harsh expectation of perfection in the world of modeling. From the color of her skin, weight and look. She also mentioned the current bullying she received on social media.

Kimi Lu’s confidence was achieved through her positive outlook and her desire to share this.

ChicPlus+ is sponsored by Mazda, Pldt, Glorietta, Ayala Malls, Marie France, La Germania Philippines, Philipine Daily Inquirer, TRSDDA, L'oreal Professionel, Standard Insurance, Tuason Racing School. Special thanks to Century City Mall Cinema, Taters, Joy San Gabriel for the breads and pastries and Swirls and Sprinkles for the cupcakes to make the Wonder Woman block screening possible.

  1. because of its definition. Women need to be given power. But - and here is the 'hard nut to crack' - not by the 'patriarchy' as Sally puts it or by the establishments. I actually believe that women need to give themselves that permission, to hold that power and make s*** happen! https://onmogul.com/stories/mydream-is-becoming-a-role-model-to-young-women-here-is-my-pledge-to-do-so

  2. This place doesn’t have any 'i'm too cool and busy for you' wait staff. As per me, everyone at event space NYC here is nice, friendly, and helpful and they really seem to like their jobs there and that is important to me. We had an awesome experience here.
