Yesterday,  Taiwan Excellence formally opened LOHAS Days, a three-day event, at Ayala Malls Market!, advocating for Filipinos to adopt a Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS). Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray attended the press presentation during which she was formally announced as a Taiwan LOHAS Advocate.
Catriona is so pretty up close! Taiwan made a significant effort to market its sustainability and wellness ideas to the Philippine public through the event. I am happy that I was one of the media attendees/ content creators who got to attend the press launch. The leading health brands and important representatives from Taiwanese institutions were in attendance to express their support.
Here's what we witnessed at the event.
A vibrant cheer dance performance set to the anthem of Taiwan's professional baseball club kicked off the press conference, energizing the crowd and symbolizing Taiwan's dramatic arrival into the Philippine wellness scene.
"Taiwan is serious about health. Our government is promoting a big vision called Healthy Taiwan," says Ms. Josephine Shun, Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines, during her opening remarks. "Taiwan is known as the Bicycle Kingdom and one of the top three fitness equipment exporters in the world. I invite you to enjoy everything around you and have fun with your family and friends."
The importance of innovation in the LOHAS movement was highlighted by Mr. Alex Lai, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center Manila: "17 Taiwanese companies have brought more than 30 innovative products. The Taiwan Excellence Awards have celebrated innovation as Taiwan's core value. Behind every award is a simple belief: innovation brings a better life."
The movement has inspired Miss Catriona Gray, who said, "I've always admired Taiwan for being a leader in championing better health and wellness. Seeing LOHAS being shared here in the Philippines is an empowering reminder that living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle is something we can all embrace."
The launch event also featured remarks from Ms. Anne Constantino, Senior Vice President for Operations at Anytime Fitness Asia Corporate, who shared her experience with Johnson Fitness, a Taiwan brand known for its smart fitness equipment.
Other Taiwan brands supporting the initiative include JK Fitness, Starbia, Vinxper, and Aropec.
Fitness classes, wellness seminars, interactive displays, and product displays that promote Taiwan's innovations in sustainability and health are available to visitors.
Along with fun activities for both families and fitness lovers, the event also includes the well-known mascot FuBear.
I was so happy to see my fellow Madiskarte Moms PH in the event!
