I switched to Maynilad Paperless Billing— here's how!

As we continue to adjust and adapt to the new normal, changing how we think and act is creating a new standard of everyday existence. From wearing a face mask to working from home, and even to the delivery of our meals which seemed unusual at first, but look at how quickly it has become our daily routine.

That's why it did not come as a surprise when I saw several announcements and posts of Maynilad on their Facebook Page about their Paperless Billing Program where I get to enroll our account right away.

Maynilad Paperless Billing is a program that gives customers the option to receive an Electronic Statement of Account (e-SOA) instead of a printed copy of our monthly water bill.

If you'll ask me — sure, paper statements can have advantages, such as physical payment reminders, simple record keeping, and a natural point of contact for client relations but my personal take on this is electronic billing can actually deliver those benefits and more. It pretty much makes sense to seek out new ways to our lives that are simple, secure, and seamless.
Here is what I like about it going paperless:

1. Accessibility and Convenience

Once enrolled, customers will have convenient 24/7 access to current and previous Maynilad water bills via the My Water Bill Portal and receive bill notifications via the channel of their choice (e.g., email or SMS).

2. Help make the Planet Greener

Signing up for Paperless Billing is one way to tidy your home and get rid of mounds of paper. This is also one way on how you can contribute to helping save the environment through reduced paper consumption. It's the more environmentally friendly and more sustainable way to go.

3. Stress-free

I no longer have to sift through a stack of previous billing documents to find a previous statement. Just log in to your account and navigate your way :) Plus it Minimize your chance to face the meter reader just to receive the SOA, thus lessening physical contact that may lead to COVID-19 transmission.

Who can enroll in the program?

The program can be joined by either the registered owner or the tenant/occupant. Each account will be limited to one enrollee.

Enrolling in Maynilad Paperless Billing Program is EASY:
Customers who have an active My Water Bill online portal account as of October 22, 2021.

Customers that have a My Water Bill online portal account as of October 22, 2021, will be pre-enrolled in the program, and will no longer get a printed SOA as of November 2021.

If you are one of the account holders, you will receive SMS and email notifications regarding the pre-enrollment.

Customers without portal accounts yet may enroll thru the following:
SMS registration is available to customers with My Water Bill portal. To create an account, follow these steps:

1. Visit
2. Enter your Contract Account Number (CAN).
3. Nominate a password (The password should be between 6 to 20 characters with at least one (1) uppercase and lowercase letter, and one (1) numeric digit).
4. Set security questions to secure your account.
5. Select your personal image.
6. Input your contact information.

Once you have the portal account, you can now enroll to Paperless Billing via SMS. Just key in MAYNILAD<space>ON<space>PAPERLESS<space>CONTRACT ACCOUNT NUMBER and send to 09191626000. You must ensure that the mobile number being used for the enrollment is the same mobile number to be used in the My Water Bill online portal account.

You may go to any Maynilad Business Area (BA) office or approach the assigned Maynilad Zone Specialist in your location.
Below are pieces of information that I find so useful when I made the switch. Sharing it right here as you may find it useful:

Do you still need to enroll in the Maynilad Paperless Billing Program if you already have a My Water Bill portal account?

NO, if you have a portal account on or before October 22, 2021, you will be automatically enrolled in Paperless Billing Program. Only the customers who will register to My Water Bill online portal account starting October 23, 2021, will be required to register. You can visit the How to Enroll in the Program section for further information.

Activation of application and e-SOA availability:
After your application has been granted, the activation will take effect on your next reading schedule. This means you'll get your e-SOA in the next billing cycle, or one month after your application has been approved. You will no longer get a hard copy of your water bill once the Maynilad Paperless Billing Program application is activated.

The e-SOA will be available one (1) day after the meter reading in the My Water Bill online portal or will be sent via email or SMS (for customers who opt to receive it via these channels).

Data security and privacy:  
There will be no cause for concern, as Maynilad's Data Privacy Policy is subject to all data and information collected from clients during the enrolling process. Visit this link to know more:

So my dear readers, in my personal opinion, this definitely is the best time to consider, enroll and switch to their paperless billing because enrolling in the Maynilad Paperless Billing Program does not just eliminate the need to touch the printed copy of the SOA and your face-to-face interactions to the meter reader but it also helps curb the virus plus it gives and helps facilitate the smooth, seamless and convenient customer experience.
