How I thrive as a Content Creator through the Years

I've been getting this question a lot. From followers to friends and past colleagues who would even send me a private message throwing in the question "How do I do it, how do I thrive as a Content Creator?" And to finally answer this question, there's one thing I'm definitely sure of — DEDICATION! I put a lot of dedication into what I do. It has been running into my veins ever since I started and it comes with a handful of patience, hard work, + consistency.

With the continuous growth in the number of people wanting to get into digital creation and influencer marketing, those of us who have been in this industry for several years already should ride with the tide of the changing times. Sure, there are days when you will feel de-motivated (and that's normal) that's why it is imperative that you need to have people around you who will support and push you to step up your game to the next level. It pays to have a strong support system when you are in this industry. One main reason is to be able to keep up especially with the ever-rising influencer marketing demand and the continuous growth in the competition wherein even celebrities are already saturating the industry.

To give you a background, I was not a content creator nor an influencer when I started. It was initially just a blog that served as a place where I could share and express my thoughts about beautiful things including my personal experiences. And if you may ask, I still have goosebumps every time a brand would address me as an influencer because for me the word INFLUENCER itself denotes great responsibilities to your followers and community. This is the reason why up to now, I do not declare myself as one— I still consider it as one heavy title, so I guess for now I still prefer to be called a Content Creator.  My initial platform was in Tumblr but when I realized that I want to further pursue blogging, I shifted to another platform and set up a formal blog with my own domain name towards the last quarter of the year 2015. So if you will count it, I’ve been thriving for 5 years already. It wasn't a bed of roses though when I started because I was struggling in juggling my time between managing our business and my blog while being a full-time mom to my daughter Tammy.

Back then I am already happy with only a few readers. The truth is, I only started with 5-10 readers including myself and the husband. Funny it may seem but then those 10 readers became 50 which eventually turned into hundreds. I cannot contain my happiness when it slowly grew into thousands and we became a community including those on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook altogether. We may still not be hundreds of thousands in numbers, but getting 1 million hits and visitors by December of 2020 was such a huge milestone for me already! (Actually, I did not know that I hit 1M until one of my followers congratulated me. haha!) You see, good things really happen if you worked hard for it. So I guess when you really want something, you just have to do it no matter how hard it is. I wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t strive harder.

And because of that and all of these achievements, I’d like to let you know that even that one person who made that extra effort to ask something or left a comment really mattered because I strongly believe that content is king and engagement is queen!

I'm super thankful to everyone— yes, all of you who believed in me and those who continue to appreciate my work. This includes all my PR contacts & clients turned into friends for supporting me. Each of you is my inspiration and I will forever be sentimental about this.

An advance cheers to all of us — gearing up our road to 2 million hits!
